Downtown Franklin NC What to Do

It's the middle of summer and there is something going on every weekend in Macon County.  Here's a list of your options in the area this weekend... come join us!

- Gem Festival - It's a Macon County Gemboree weekend!  Running July 28th-31st, there are four locations to shop for gems, minerals, jewelry, and supplies.  Retailers can shop the huge selection at the wholesale location at 6295 Sylva Road (HWY 441N), while other shoppers can check out the vendors at the Community Building, or the corner of Highlands Road and Hwy 441, or the Echo Valley Showplace at 6456 Sylva Road.  Your best plan would be to stop at the Franklin Chamber of Commerce for full details on each stop, along with entrance coupons.

- Folkmoot USA Performance - we are so blessed to have this international event happening in our area, and on Thursday night at 7pm there will be a special performance of music and dance featuring performers in gorgeous authentic costumes celebrating their cultural heritage. Call the Franklin Chamber of Commerce or Smoky Mountain Center for the Arts for full info and tickets.

- Kellie Pickler in Concert - the American Idol star will be performing Saturday night at 7:30pm at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts.  If you haven't been to this gorgeous facility - you will be VERY impressed!

- Pickin' on the Square - bring your lawnchair and enjoy a free concert on Main Street in Franklin Saturday evening at the gazebo downtown.  This week Paradise 56 will perform at 7:30pm, but come early for "Open Mike" at 6:30.  Fun!

- Museum Crawl - if you have some extra time while you're in town, a fun and educational activity is checking out our wonderful local museums.  You can park downtown and walk to the Macon County Historical Society Museum, Scottish Tartans Museum and the Franklin Gem and Mineral Museum.

I hope we'll see you in the mountains this weekend!  Be sure to create an account on my website or shoot me an email if you'd like to sign up for future email alerts about what's happening in Macon County and, of course, real estate updates!
